105th Express Entry Draw: Canada Set to Break 2017 ITA’s record.
On November 28th   Canada held a new Express Entry draw. With this, IRCC is now only 4,024 ITAs away from breaking the record of total that was set last year.

Statistics

Canada had issued 86,023 invitations issued at this point in 2017. In this draw Canada issued 3,900 ITAs seeking Canadian permanent residence. The yearly total for 2018 is now 82,000. The CRS score was 445, decreasing by four points from the draw held on Nov 15. Immigration authorities hold two invitation rounds in a month. Since September 5, in the six draws of seven, they have issued 3,900 invitations. In case this policy continues in December also, IRCC is set to surpass the figures of 2017 in ITAs.

The federal EE system supervises the pool of candidates for its three Federal Skilled economic programs which are

All Eligible candidates get the CRS score which reflects the position they hold in the pool. Moreover from these, a specific number of the top ranking candidates get ITAs through regular draws.

Use of tie break mechanism

IRCC employed the tie break mechanism in this invitation round with a date and time of Oct 22, 2018, at 14:40:13 UTC. Thus all candidates with a CRS score of 445 or above it, who submitted a profile, before the set date, get an ITA in this invitation round.

The gap in today’s draw was less than two weeks from the previous draw conducted on Nov 15. This was the cause of, CRS decline by four points. When then is less time between two draws, few candidates get the chance to enter the pool. Additionally it lowers the minimum score. The candidates having an intention to improve their CRS score can succeed, by getting a nomination, through a PNP stream that has a link to EE. Here moreover they get 600 CRS points additionally, which serves as a guarantee to get the ITA for permanent residence.

Effective participation

Totally nine provinces and two territories participate in Provincial National Programs Canada by having an immigration stream linked to the EE system. Five PNPs have recently issued invitations to these candidates. Canada presently has a multi-year immigration plan, with an admission target of 74,900 new permanent residents in 2018. Moreover, Admission targets will increase in all the future years for now.

The candidates who hold a master’s degree or obtained CLB 10 in the listening, speaking and reading categories of the CELPIP exam,  stand a good chance to obtain an ITA. The finish to the year 2018 will be impressive in case the IRCC holds huge draws in December.
