2,750 candidates invited to apply for the new Canada Express Entry Draw

The Canadian Government has invited 2,750 Candidates listed in The Federal Express Entry Pool to Apply for attaining Permanent Residence Status in Dec. 6th Draw, the Comprehensive Ranking System Cut-Off Score is 452. It used The Tie-Break Procedure that IRCC had introduced in June 2017. A few candidates who scored 452 received invitations to apply, but the tie-break meant that the candidates who presented their profiles in the EE pool before a fixed date and time and with a CRS of 452 received the invitation. Here the time and date was 04:20:20 UTC on 16th November 2017.

The previous draw, held on Nov. 15th had a score of 439. This was possible owing to the time gap between the two draws, which permitted more candidates to enter the pool, and also the size of the draw.

The Canadian Government increased ITA targets to be pursued in the three economic immigration classes for the year 2018. Now there is a hope that the ranking scores will continue to go down. IRCC now requires doing large draws or more frequent draws from the pool in the New Year. Such a scenario will lower the cut-off ranking score.

This draw was the 29th to be held in 2017 and now the total number of ITAs issued in 2017 stands at 83,273. This is 56 percent of the invitations numbering 148,118 which were issued from January 2015, when the Express Entry system was introduced.

In November 2017, four draws were held.

On Nov. 1, 2017, IRCC announced a Multi-Year Immigration Plan which is expected to see the increase of 20 percent between 2018 and 2020 in the number of candidates seeking permanent residence status through various economic programs. Following this announcement, in five draws held 8,295 ITAs have been issued.

There are fluctuating ranking cut-off thresholds, and candidates having a bachelor’s degree and English language proficiency make the cut. Good work experience and having relatives as permanent residents was also an influencing factor. A score of 8 in each category in IELTS and skills like web designing or software engineer for some years also helped a few candidates. Higher targets in Express Entry set for 2018, are a reason that the CRS cut-off will decline in the future. It is the most opportune time to determine the status and attempt to qualify for Express Entry, by entering the profile in the pool.
