4.7 Million Indian Tourists went overseas in 2017

The trend in outbound tourism from India is the steady and in the last few years has a yearly increase in visa applications, as per a report.

The top tourist destinations are the US, the UK and China for which there were maximum visa applications in the 2016 and also in 2017.

The visa applications from India in 2017, increased by 10 percent, and the figures were 4.7 million. As a comparison in 2016 it was 4.3 million.

As per the statistics there is a yearly increase in visa applications from India. The overseas travel is not limited to a privileged few today. More Indians travel abroad now than ever before, and explore even unusual destinations. The Top five destinations frequented by Indians during 2016 and 2017 were - the USA, Malaysia, the UK, Canada and China.

Thailand is popular

The report also mentions that visa applications for Thailand had a sharp increase in 2017 compared to the previous year. Schengen destinations were also popular with Indians. The markets of Czech Republic, Turkey and Japan also had an impressive growth. There was a positive trend in 2017 for these emerging destinations.

Additionally, there were some new trends among Indian travelers, and they were willing to explore out-of-the-way destinations. As a result many of these destinations became keener to persuade Indian travelers.
