Alberta began the two new immigration streams which include the much anticipated stream linked to Express Entry. There was an expectation to start these streams in January, but the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program has started them now.
With the creation of a committed Express Entry Stream, Alberta will now permit, inviting candidates in the federal Express Entry pool, to submit the application seeking a provincial nomination.
The AINP said that the Candidates who show strong ties to the province and who support the priorities of the government regarding the diversification and economic development can apply in the EE Stream.
The system of Express Entry supervises candidates in three economic immigration classes of Canada which are the Federal Skilled Trades Class, the Federal Skilled Worker Class, and the Canadian Experience Class.
A successful candidate in the pool receiving a nomination from any province of Canada gets 600 additional points in the CRS and also gets a priority to get the Invitation to Apply for seeking Canadian PR.
The Qualified candidates who have a profile in the EE pool will are selected directly by the Program. These candidates can apply for the provincial nomination after they receive an invitation from the AINP.
The initial step to pursue this stream is by entering the Express Entry pool.
Additionally apart from the new Express Entry stream, the province has stated that from June 14 it will also accept applications in the Self-Employed Farmer Stream and also in the Alberta Opportunity Stream. This stream functions outside the limit of Express Entry, and leads to permanent residence, for all candidates who work in Alberta. Under the AOS, these candidates can apply without having the support of the employer. It is a replacement to the Strategic Recruitment Stream and Employer-Driven Stream of Alberta, which are currently closed as of June 14th. The AINP announced that all applications to these streams which arrived prior to June 14th will be processed .
To gain the eligibility for the AOS, the candidates need to currently work full-time in Alberta in an occupation that is eligible. They must also satisfy minimum selection criteria for residency. Moreover they must fulfill the norms of occupation, employment status, education, language, income level and work experience.
The AINP said that the new stream has additions and there are new occupations and skill levels in it.
These new changes will serve the workers in Alberta who wish to become permanent residents. AINP plans to simplify the processes, and reduce the waiting time. Additionally it will provide fair access to all workers who wish to build a life in Alberta.
As per the AINP the purpose of the changes is:
The AINP has a target of 5,600 nominations for the present year from the federal government. So far it has issued 2,277 nominations in 2018.
