British Columbia Conducts a Large Draw – A Significant Score Drop -27th July, 2018

On July 25th 2018, British Columbia conducted one of the huge draws of 2018. Moreover there was a significant drop in the Minimum score. It issued 400 invitations through the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program, which were three short of the largest draw for the year 2018 in January. Also there was a drop of Minimum scores in four (out of the five) target streams. There was a need of only 84 points for direct skilled worker category in the province. In the direct international graduate category, candidates had to score a minimum of 91 points, which was 96 points in the draw of the previous week. The Express Entry categories for skilled workers and international graduates also needed the same score (91 points). The points for entry level and semi-skilled workers were 65.

Furthermore in the previous draw British Columbia selected a batch of in-demand skilled workers and international graduates using the BC PNP Tech Pilot. In The July 19th draw 27 candidates received the invitation to apply in selected technology occupations. This Pilot gives a preference to candidates in 29 occupations for receiving invitations to apply for BC immigration. International graduates in the Express Entry province and direct provincial streams had to at least score of 96 points. EE skilled workers had to score 92 points for qualifying, whereas direct provincial skilled workers had to score 87 points.

The BC PNP Tech Pilot was extended to 2019 after introduction in 2017. Presently it contains 29 target occupations having relaxed duration requirements. This PNP aims to specifically attract technology workers and commenced in May 2017. Additionally there is a flourishing technology industry in the province and a few big names of the tech world prefer this province.

The provincial nomination guarantees selection in the EE System, and also gives 600 CRS points. This PNP publishes the scores which the immigrants need to get an invitation in Canada immigration .
