Largest Immigration Draw of British Columbia in 2019 issues 356 invitations -2nd February, 2019

On January 30 the immigration authorities of British Columbia conducted the largest draw i.e. British Columbia Immigration Draw of 2019. They also issued 356 invitations to candidates in the skilled workers and international graduates’ category. Moreover, this was the fifth draw of the province in January, having the invitations in five streams.

The Minimum score was constant, and direct provincial category as well as Express Entry category for skilled workers required 85 points. For these two categories among international graduates 95 points were necessary. For the entry-level and semi-skilled candidates 68 points were the qualifying mark.

Additionally in the previous draw, held on January 23 British Columbia attracted IT professionals through its PNP Tech Pilot. Totally in that draw, the province issued 45 invitations issued in five streams. The Minimum score was constant, and direct provincial category as well as Express Entry category for skilled workers required 85 points. For these two categories among international graduates 95 points were necessary. For the entry-level and semi-skilled candidates 68 points were the qualifying mark.

There was an extension in the PNP Tech Pilot of the province till 2019 after it was launched in 2017. It presently has 29 target occupations which have relaxed duration requirements. The Program specifically aims to attract technology workers. It has a flourishing technology industry and many big names of the tech world are associated with it.

Job Requirements for BC PNP Tech Pilot :

  • A Job offer in one of the 29 targeted occupations
  • The duration of the Job offer must be for one-year and finally,
  • It must have a validity of 120 days while applying

Additionally, the provincial nomination serves as an effective guarantee in selection in the Canadian Express Entry System, by adding 600 CRS points. The program also publishes the necessary scores which guarantee an ITA for immigration in its programs. The score requirement for international graduates is 30 points lower than a skilled worker under Express Entry and provincial streams. It is still lower for entry-level/semi-skilled workers.
