Queensland is launching a new campaign for promoting itself as a destination to make the investment and pursue international study. It is targeting Indian entrepreneurs and also plans to host two Indian innovators this year.  This will help them in experiencing the global environment of the state.


There will be coordination of two agencies of the state government - Advance Queensland and Study Queensland which have launched the Indian Innovators Campaign. It will invite Indian innovators for working with the local companies and also the education providers.  Kate Jones Minister for International Education says that India has a fast growing economy and it is of great importance that entrepreneurs in Queensland form a strong relationship with Indians.

The goal

The goal of this initiative is to show that Queensland can offer all the facilities necessary for an innovation hub. It will facilitate a platform for the students in developing a global entrepreneurial mindset. Moreover, there will be a focus on inspiring Indian start-ups in establishing their operations in the state. Furthermore, Indians find Queensland to be a great destination. It offers a big market and a vast majority of Indian students study, in Higher Education, or also take-up the Vocational Education and training in Brisbane or in Gold Coast.


This campaign, will select two Indian innovators to travel to Queensland in April this year, and also coordinate with the leading local innovators/entrepreneurs. They can also run a workshop and address stakeholders in the state and in India.  Shannon Willoughby Executive Director Study Queensland stated that the competition was open to two people in the age group between 21 and 40. They must engage in University Graduate Entrepreneurship or be start-up founders.

The aim of the competition

The aim of this competition is to educate Indian parents, international students, and agents regarding the uniqueness of studying in Queensland. It will also highlight the opportunities existing for setting up a start-up in the state. The applications will be selected by a panel considering the ability of the applicants to deliver on the major requirements of the project. They also have to meet the criteria, and create a social media impact, through genuine innovation. There must be a creative design and the potential to be a great thing in the future. The competition will close on Monday.
