Nova Scotia Nomination Program

The Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP) is the initial step in the two- step process for Canadian permanent visa. This program authorizes Nova Scotia government to hire and choose immigrants willing to settle in the province and possess the skills, experience and education required to contribute to the economic and labor market needs of the province.

Nova Scotia Nominee Program

Individuals who have decided to work and reside in Nova Scotia permanently are made available with the following streams to decide under which he or she qualifies:
  • Skilled worker
  • Regional labour market demand
  • Family Business worker

Skilled Worker Stream:

An overseas graduate from either a college or university of Canada with an offer of employment from an employer of Nova Scotia will be able to file applications for permanent residency under this stream.

Skilled workers are identified as those individuals under NOC skill level O, A or B. Applications under higher skilled occupation will be given priority compared to semi-skilled workers and low skilled workers categorized under NOC skill level C and NOC skill level D respectively.

Regional Labour Market Demand:

Applications under this stream are closed to new applicants marked by the end of 28 Apr 2014.The stream will be reopened on 01 January 2015

Family Business Worker

Family Business worker stream aids the employers to employ workers who are near relatives and have the experience of work and necessary skills for positions for which employers were not able to fill them with Canadian citizen or permanent resident.

Prior to lodging the application under this program, the family business worker must possess a permanent job offer for full time from a Nova Scotia employer, who is a near relative and holds an established business in Nova Scotia.

Nominated applicant or spouse of the applicant has to be related to the Family Business worker or spouse of the business worker as one of the following ways:

  • Daughter or son
  • Sister or Brother
  • Nephew or Niece
  • Aunt or Uncle
  • Grandchildren
