Parent and Grandparent Super Visa

Parents and grandparents of Canadian nationals or PR holders intending to acquire temporary residence to visit their loved ones can apply for extended visitors’ visas known as Super Visas. This program was introduced in December 2011 to unite parents and grandparents with their children and grandchildren in Canada. This Parent and Grandparent Super Visa allow the eligible grandparents and parents to enter Canada several times within 10 years.

Parent and Grandparent Super Visa

This is a multiple-entry visa granted for parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens or permanent residents. This Parent and Grandparent Super Visa (Super Visa) is allow parents as well as grandparents to reside in Canada for a period up to 2 years in Canada during each visit. This PGP visa is valid for 10 years.

Eligibility criteria

In order to apply for the parent and grandparent super visa, you must:

  • Be the grandparent or parent of a Canadian national or a PR holder
  • Be enabled to enter Canada and
  • Comply with certain other conditions

Requirements

To grant PGP super visa, a visa officer will consider the following things

  • Applicants ties to their native country
  • Applicant’s purpose of visit
  • Applicant’s family relations and finances
  • The overall economic and political steadiness of their native nation, and
  • Applicant must receive an invitation from a Canadian host
  • Proof should be produced that applicants child or grandchild is financial stable to support themselves
  • Applicant must have valid medical insurance coverage for minimum one year
  • Applicant must undergo medical exam
